What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is an FDA approved medication for weight loss. It is a weekly injection that reduces appetite and makes you feel full longer after your meals. Along with a healthy diet and exercise plan, this medication has proven to be effective in helping people to lose weight.
How does it work?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. In simple terms, it delays the emptying of your stomach after you eat. This means, your food will sit in your stomach longer than it usually does, and that makes you feel full longer. Semaglutide also helps to stimulate insulin production, which can work to regulate your blood sugar levels. Semaglutide is not a magic weight-loss wand, so it will require a healthy diet and exercise plan in order to see results.
How do I start the Semaglutide treatment at Amachi?
You will start by calling us to schedule a consultation with our weight loss nurse. When you come in for your consultation, you will fill out an initial questionnaire that screens you for medical conditions that help us to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for Semaglutide. We will send your blood to the lab. Once our doctor reviews your blood work, you will return to Amachi Medspa one week after their initial consultation to receive their first dose and education on the medication as well as healthy diet and exercise options. Patients will either return to Amachi weekly for their injections, or they will have the option to take their medication home and self-administer. We will follow-up with all of our patients every month to track their weight-loss progress.
What is included in the Semaglutide package?
The package will include the patient’s weekly Semaglutide injections for three months. The dosage will depend on the patient and their body’s response to the medication. To help with potential side effects, such as nausea, weekly Vitamin B12 injections are included as well. The package comes with all the lab work required for treatment and all supplies needed to administer the medication.
What happens after I complete the three month treatment?
We offer our patients a monthly maintenance package that allows patients to continue the treatment until they have reached their goal weight. Patients will also have the option to continue their treatment month to month, slowly lowering their dose so it is easier for them to maintain the weight they have lost.
What are the side effects of Semaglutide?
Most medication has side effects. The side effects can be prevented or at least reduced. The most common side effects are nausea. Some patients have also reported the following side effects – vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, stomach pain, and constipation. We include Vitamin B12 injections to help prevent these potential side effects.
What about the cost?
Our all inclusive price for the first 3 months of Semaglutide, Vitamin B12 injections, labs, and followups is $1800. For those who want to maintain their results after 3 months, the monthly fee is $500.
